Forgive me if this is a dumb ? but my russian is hibernating outside for the 1st time. The years before she hibernated in my attic...this time she dug down before I could get her. Last summer was her 1st time in her huge outside enclosure. We dug it down 3-4 feet and lined in with wire. My part of AL doesn't get freezing but a few times a year although this winter was worse. It didn't last long either. I feel like she made it though the cold days b/c I could stick my arm all the way in the hole and not feel bottom and she did dig down pretty good.
My concern is my 2 outside kittens that I brought home for rodent control, started using her enclosure as a giant litterbox. As soon as I caught them I covered it with a huge net. What I'm wondering is will she be ok, if they covered her hole? I knew where it was and tried to carfeully uncover it but with no luck.
