I had a crazy Monday!!! O.T.

Joel_Thomas Feb 11, 2009 05:37 PM

I went to work Monday as usual, 12:00 came along and I sat down to lunch, I made my vegetable salad (no lettuce) as I do everyday.
I heated up the grilled chicken breast from the night before, I took one bite of the salad and started to feel dizzy my heart stuttered and I was short of breath????

Long story short I had a friend drive me to the emergency room where they informed me that my blood pressure was 220 over 130 and they rushed to a room. Over the next two hours the could not get my pressure to go down much, and admitted me to the cardiac ward!

They got my pressure under control, and did everything they could to find out why it had jumped so high, after many many tests I still do not have an answer. I will be following up with my primary doctor on Friday who I know will find a good cardio Dr. for me.

Now for my point, I am 6 foot tall 175 pounds, I eat an extremely healthy diet and I am very active out doors and at work. I do on occasion brink beer and sometimes a cigarette or two. I have learned a lot these last couple of days about blood pressure, I have always been very mildly hypertensive but nothing like Monday, which I was told that had I not gotten their when I did I could have gone into cardiac arrest or a stroke.

I encourage everyone no matter how healthy you think you are to get yourselves checked on those (little) things that may be in the back of your mind, they don't go away! All I could think about was My precious daughter and lovely wife, well and that Kevin would end up getting that Pucallpa Peruvian male from me LOL...

Even though I may only smoke a pack a week normally I will be putting them down and have not touched them sense Monday, fortunately I do not crave cigarettes at all!

Thanks

I really was shocked, and I thought that this post may help someone make the choice to get checked for something that has or is bothering their health.

Good health is a priceless commodity.

Definitely alarming Joel ! I hope you and your Dr.'s will straighten this out and get you back on track.
A guy with your build sounds close to perfect. Although stress can do some strange things to people.
Glad you are still here to make this post.
I prescribe a brisk walk for 30-60 minutes a day,LOL.
Once your Dr. clears you for it that is ,LOL

That is certainly how I want to get that male! For your own good you should just sell him to me know so you don't have to worry about stuff like that in the future

Seriously - our health is nothing to take lightly. I had severe chest pains starting on the 21st of Jan (same day as a lovely lady stepped up her efforts to make my life hard). It hurt so bad I stopped working out completely for fear of over exerting myself. Went to the doctor and after several test he determined I had pulled something between my ribs working out (I had done a hard work out on the 21st). The peace of mind of knowing it wasn't anything life threatening helped me sleep at night (that and the muscle relaxers).

Joel - be sure to let me know when you will be stopping by on your way to the coast!

Take care,

Kevin

the first part. I am glad that you are okay and sorry Kevin won't be getting his snake. But not really. Good advice as well. We'll pray that you won't have anymore trouble with the ol ticker.

Like I said earlier I hope I can convince at least one person to get themselves checked, as I never saw this coming as fast as it happened.

Nice to have so many cyber-friends LOL...

doing everything right already, well... with the exception of smoking which, as an occasional thing, is not likely what lead to your recent trip to the doctor. Do you have a history of high bood pressure or heart problems in your family?
I'd like to know what they think may have lead to this, especially seeing as how you live a pretty da#n healthy lifestyle! Keep us posted...

Joel, my health was horrible the last few years and I found truth in the last year.

A truth, that set me free forever and has changed mine and my wifes lives for good and we will never need a Doctor again, except in a case of an accident.

Today, all of my health problems are gone and our pains are no more.

I will share my info with you, but you have to call me.

I will not get into any of this over e-mail or a forum.

Your Call and Be Blessed, John J

Glad to hear your OK Joel. I lost a really good friend this past year to similar circumstances and it's not easy.

I had a full workup done about a year ago and I plan to stay on top of it.

kirby Feb 12, 2009 05:28 PM

Sounds like you might have a conduction problem with an aberrant electical pathway. I hope everything works out well for you.
