Sealer on wooden cage

MaureenCarpenter Feb 12, 2009 01:21 PM

Hi everybody. I just had a couple of outdoor wooden cages made and would like to preserve the wood with a varnish or sealer of some sort. Any ideas for something that is safe?? Thanks! Maureen

Hi Maureen, I usually hear people speak of the polyurethanes, they need a couple coats, and alot drying time in between as it stays tacky, but after all dry , I believe it is safe. Also hope you woudl not be using for awhile as the smell woudl need to air out as well. Wouldn't want to hurt any lil sniffers, hehehhee.

You may want to ask on several forums and get some ideas and other choices as to what people are using. Ask on the chuck forum lots of wood enclosures there, it's quiet here, everyone SNOOZING, lol.

How are the critters in your life,

Hi Eve! Happy to report that all my critters are in fine shape be they feathered, scaled, or bipedal humanoids! LOL I didn't hibernate anybody, so I had lots of "little sniffers," as you put it, to cuddle with all winter. So far, so good! So let's get everybody woken up out there!! More pictures!! More posts!!Spring is just around the corner!!!!
