I have a 6 month old savannah and I was wondering if they get along with other monitors? I was thinking about getting a tegu but I don't know if they would get along? If they were the same size maybe??? Just an idea. let me know, thanks.

You should get your temps and everything else corrected for your little savvy first and make sure he is happy!
As far as species mixing goes that is not a good idea. People do do it w/ tegus, but it's not a good idea. You could get a nice little group of savs going given you have the space to suit them adequately winking smiley face.

I don't get it how could one keep a savannah and black and white tegu together? Their temp needs are totally different.
Not to mention one is African and the other is South American so not to sound too much like an @$$ but i'm not really sure what you were thinking on that one. It's pretty much a bad idea on every level don't do it. Generially speaking mixed species are very difficult to pull off, it can be done but typically you need lots of space expecially for one involving a Tegu or Savannah Monitor

I agree I don't know how it's done but I have seen it done before just looking through pics online.

I keep a young Sav and a young albig together with no problems. I have to make sure each gets their alotted food or the smaller Sav (Football) would take most. Other than that, fine. They even share the same hide. You are going to need a big enclosure for two animals. Tegus I don't think so. They're too different from Savs.
Keeping mixed species in a same enclosure environment is a BAD idea.
Why not just have 2 enclosures?
If space is an issue, it may be best just to keep one or the other.
Not trying to rain on your parade, 6 months is not very old, Is this your first?

I wouldn't say mixed species are a bad idea just very hard to pull off. They can accuially be some of the most rewardind exhibits if they are properly designed. they definatally require much more space and much more time to get set up but if you can they are awesome displays. Space is the biggest issue though a common mistake is to assume that two animals just require twice the space of one this is way off i would say for most species you want to go at least 3-5 times the space required for one. granted i usually err on the large side for exhibits. for example for an adult white throat and savanah kept together i would put them in a cage with at least 100 sq ft yes that is big bigger then most could keepers have space for but to give them proper hide, basking, and feeding space this is what you need. So do plenty of research into compatable species that may co-habatate in the wild and spend the time and money to set them up right and you can have an amazing display to make everyone jelouse of.

"Create then surpass your expectations"
Yes mixed species can be rewarding, but in reality 99 percent of the population get it wrong, ending in disaster.
I have read a lot of posts from people who try and cram mixed species in fish tanks "since my apartment is so small" type scenarios.
By all means, if one has the room to run a proper "zoo style" exhibit, then I say go for it.!
Thats all.
