bites after kingsnake left

dirtybluegenes Feb 12, 2009 09:39 PM

i had a kingsnake, and unfortunately i had to give it away. but for a little while during the time i had it, these little flies started hanging out in the tank. they were a little bigger and lighter in colour than fruit flies and had more pronounced wings.

since it has been gone i started getting what looks like bites on me, in 4 instances, but the bites all kind of look different. i tried to deduce this, and it can't be bed bugs otherwise all my roommates would be having this problem too and it can't be fleas because my i had my cat checked and she doesn't have fleas (she's never even itchy)and it can't be any of those itch mite things because i live in a big city and apparently those are only in the woods.

has anybody ever had to deal with these little flies? what are they called? maybe it's not them that's biting, maybe it's something else, but can someone tell me the name of these things?
thanks!

Sounds like No-Seeums. They used to fly in through the holes in the screens in early morning and around dusk. Nasty lil suckers. I learned to sweat a couple hours a day with the windows shut. HTH. dave
