I got a idea for a book.....

philip_s May 24, 2003 01:27 PM

Hey all.
I was looking a a rock climbing book the other day that listed all the accidents that happend in the year 2001. It covers what the person did wrong, what he should have done, how it can be prevented, what happend to him, etc. Some one needs to wright a book about the same thing, but on venomous herps. So that way we can learn from others mistakes. Any one have any ideas were to get info to wright a book like this? Well thanks for any advice.

Yea, dont put your hand in a "calm" looking western db rattlers cage to change its water. Bad Bad idea. Luckily it was a dry bite, but ill never do that stupid move again.

I don't think Westerns are ever calm. They're either 'really p****d off' or 'biding their time'. I'm pretty sure it's my Western's life goal to bite me. On the other hand, my horned adder only strikes at me when he's hungry and is really hoping I'm food, so he's a good snake.

I don't know if you go to a publisher first but it woudn't hurt to call one & maybe they could tell you what you needed to do or even if there is a market for it.

All right thanks. Let me go into a tad bit more detal, I was in a rush when I wrote the last post. I was thinking of wrighting a book/geting some one to, on venomous bites, I would have to first interview the people, and I would wright a few pages on each case. Say for that one guy (I forgot his name) that got bit by a crate after he had it bagged and he thought he was safe. I would wright on him and what he did wrong, what he should have done, and anything alse I can think of. But the main goal of the book would be to let others learn from others mistakes. I would of course have a very experenced herper read it and reread many times. Well thanks for any more input.

I think it's a good idea for a book but I wonder how many people will be willing to go in to detail about getting tagged. Most people are embarrassed by it. Then again they could always tell their story anonymously. My suggestion would be to outline what you plan to write about & include a sample story before you talk to a publisher, editor or expert. I wish I had more solid info for you. Good luck!
