Michelle,
Good to see you in the Tegu Forum.
Care sheets are a little scarce for Tegus, currently the best information I've found on-line have been at the following:
http://www.bluetegu.com
http://www.agamainternational.com
As you are familiar with caring for monitors, I think you'll find Tegu care is very similar in many regards. Depending on the species they range from strict carnivores to being omnivorous, so specific dietary issues require careful scrutiny.
Feel free to post away, I'm sure others will be happy to share their thoughts and experiences and their information as well.
Take Care,
-Kit
the 2 sites she gave are the best. for anything else you need to know. just ask
this is a much "nicer" forum than the monitor forum. hehe
Heres the sites I found when I went looking for Tegu info:

http://www.icomm.ca/dragon/monitor.htm#black
http://www.reptileparadise.com/cs_bwtegu.htm (Sometimes the site goes down)

http://www.honoluluzoo.org/black_tegu_lizard.htm
http://www.dovesoft.net/~tegu/food.asp (List of edible fruit and what NOT to feed them)
