Lavandar Tangerines

Omnivorous Feb 14, 2009 10:07 AM

If I were interested in produceing Hyop Tangerine Carrot Tails or even SHCTC with some lavendar hues or stripes in them would that be acomplished by breeding lavendar stripes with SHCTC or would that give you half SHCTC and half lavendars. Not sure how the genetics on lavendar works. Trying to figure what would be needed as a breeding base to make some nice high quality lavendar tangerines hopefully with some carrot tails.

From my understanding - lavender is polygenetic as well, not simple recessive...so you would have to experiment with breeding animals with various degrees of lavender to SHCTT specimens.

Lavender can take several months to show up to, so you will want to hold onto the babies for awhile to see how much (if any) lavender they will have.

thats my understanding anyway....
