I agree with Robyn, don't take this personally bigbearhook, while it sounds like a good idea, indoor/outdoor carpet or astroturf or cage carpet is probably the worst choice for any reptile as a substrate because it will undoubtedly sooner or later become a "filth house" for bacterial and fungi, because there is no way to "really" fully clean and dissinfect it, or keep it dry, increasing your chances for pathogenic problems, not to mention probably abrasive and irritating to the skin, the two combined bacteria/fungi and skin irritation could become a deadly combo. You would really be better off with a bare tub quite frankly and wash it once a week or after defication. If you want to cut costs "recycle" and use yesterdays newspaper, it doesn't get any cheaper than free. Get it from a friend, neighbor, relative, business, where ever, everyone has access to free newspaper one way or the other.
