Very docile. Maybe 'cause he gets handled so often. And the blue head, well, all I can say is nature has a pretty good imagination.

I'm suprised you haven't gone in this direction. You can actually handle these w/o getting mauled, unlike some of the other beauties. In fact, this young cave has really settled down and is a pleasure to hold. Now my adult Blue, well, that's another story.

Wow, one of the best poses ever! Man you have some quality animals.
I don't have a good reason for not having ridleyi because I like them as much as any of the other subspecies and more than some.
My adult blues are really calm most of the time like your ridleyi but I got them as hatchlings close to 10 years. Here is my female on a "good day". lol

That is a beautiful animal. Do all ridlei look pretty much like yours, or is their a great deal of variation? Those pastel colors and that blue head are gorgeous. Steve
There is a Cameroon line?, or something like that, that stay real yellow as adults. I've also seen some variation in the few adults I've seen at shows. I'm going to try and pick up a female soon, although it seems everyone is always very male heavy w/ these.
Really nice Snakes Don!
I could see those in my collection someday.
Correctly if I'm wrong but I thought there was a mainland form and the Cameroon form and the Cameroons are the better looking. IE lighter colored. I'm definitely a novice when it comes to Asian colubrid locals.
Nate
I've only seen pictures here on kingsnake of the cameroon version and they do seem to be more colorful. By the same token, don't recall seeing an "ugly" cave rat; every adult I've ever seen kind of makes you stop for a moment and check it out.
