First Blood

And we aren't talkin Rambo.

I took the plunge today and picked up a baby blood today at a local swap. I am shocked by how docile she appears to be right now, she didn't even bite when they probed her for me at the show.

All the talk about them being a lil vocal is right, as she expressed her joy when I tried to get her outa the granola box hid in her new home.

I set her up in a 10 gal with covered wood lid. Small heat pad on one side, water dish on the other. She seems very content right now coiled up in a granola bar box.

Any advice as I continue with my new friend?

You might want to cover 3 of the sides of the tank. They don't really like feeling exposed and that could help if you really want to use an aquarium.

She seems to be rather secure, she spends alot of the daytime in her hide but ventures out at night. I am still trying to learn her body language. It is much different than my redtail or cal king. It is pretty hard to figure out if she is expolring, feels threatened, or is hungry =) It will take some time, but I am handling her twice a day for about 20 minutes a time. She is a very decent snake so far...
