All,

If you have not read HR-669, "Nonnative Wildlife Invasion Prevention Act", you should...

It is currently in the House Natural Resources Committee and has 13 democratic sponsors...

While you are researching the bill, you need to read the "Broken Screens" report prepared by the "Defense of Wildlife" oraganization...Pay particular attention as to who is on the staff at this tax exempt, non-profit organization...Read their biographies and what they did before they came to work at the Defense of Wildlife...

Read their "White Papers" and check out their 2007 Annual Report. There you will find their accomplishments that includes their lawsuit to STOP the construction of the fence between the US and Mexico!

Also, go to page 25 and read their "contributors" list...There's a very interesting name there...

Later,
Jim.

Max,

That's what I read listed on page 25 as a contributor to the Defense of Wildlife 2007 "Annual Report"...You read it the same as me...Notice that it said USFWS (the agency itself) and not individuals....

Did you notice who the VP of the Defense of Wildlife is? There is an "implied" connection that is an "elephant in the room" so to speak...Did you notice where she spent the majority of her 20 years of government service and what her last appointment was?

If this is true (it's their report and their website), then federal agencies can make donations to organizations that can write reports that recommend an increase in millions of tax dollars on the basis of the recommendations from that very same agency!

Did you read their "White Papers"? Did you check out some of them? The "Ensure Scientific Integrity of Decisions" and Global Warming and Wildlife" were written by the very same VP listed above...

Speaking of which, check out one particular member of their "Science and Conservation Economics"...She was part ot the Nobel Peace Prize that was awarded to the IPCC (UN)...You'll know which one when you read her bio...

I've already written to my congressman about this...

We have entered the surreal and it ain't Kansas...

Later,
Jim.

Can you post a link to get me pointed in the right direction to read up on all these aspects of the bill?

Thanks,

Jeff Corwin is on the Board of Directors for In Defense of Wildlife (IDW) and Animal Planet is in the bag for the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). HSUS is the largest and most powerful Animal Rights organization in the world. They advocate ending all animal ownership and use. Groups like IDW, PeTA and the like all fall under their umbrella. Be sure that wherever you find efforts to destroy the herp community, HSUS and their minions will be involved.

All,

This now makes Jeff Corwin an enemy of the herp industry. So any of you who "help" him with any of his shows are consorting with the enemy and you are now the enemy. This is also why "sell out" hobbyists and hobbyists groups are also the enemy. It is time to call a spade a spade. Anyone who supports bans, supports those who ban and folks who think they have some kind of entitlement to give others right's away are the enemy. That is the bottom line.

There is no partial support. You either support the industry and what it stands for or you don't. The herp industry supports the sustainable harvest of wild caught herps. It supports the right of all Americans to buy and sell wild caught and captive born herps. It supports the right to possess any species as long as they are safely cared for in a proper manner. If you don't support these things you are the enemy. Period.

Take a Zanex Mike, geez. Speaking your mind is one thing but calling people the enemy is off base, I think, famous, infamous, whatever. If anyone ever wishes to dialogue with this group, this isn't the way. Seriously, if you ever need extra work, you got the job as the town cryer, lol!

I don't know about calling Corwin an enemy but he's not a friend ether. I think he's just another example of guy doing what's best for himself. I always felt like it's a stab in the back but then again obviously it's the smart business move. It comes down to personal ethics.

The reason people like Corwin , Nelson, Carol Baskin , Rodda, Skippy Snow etc etc etc...............get offers in the first place is because they offer things in return it's one hand washing the other.

There are many guys who talk about their concern and love for the reptile game who would trade places with Corwin in a heart beat and throw everyone under the bus. It's very easy to put on a front and say things when nobody is dangling the carrot in front of your nose. When the incentive is there that's when the real person comes out.

Carol Baskin (Tampa Florida ) is a great example. For those that don't know , Carol Baskin has been a major force behind our current legislative problems. She used to be a private exotic cat breeder until Peta showed her how to play the game. Carol had money , political ties and was in the perfect position to be leveraged that's why Peta approached her and it's been down hill for us ever since.

People hook up with groups such as Peta and the Humane society because they have the winning team. That's where the money and the power is. It's miracle we've gotten away with what we have so far. It's also our saving grace . Things have gone on so long that now there's so many animals and people involved that it makes blanket legislation difficult . Difficult but not impossible. Prepare for and expect the worst that way you'll never be disappointed or caught off guard.

For the animal industry and private owners to really matter it has to be more then just the reptile people getting together it has to be a coalition of the entire live animal trade. Much easier said then done. Right now I look at it as jig saw puzzle if all the pieces are together you have beautiful picture but when the pieces are just scattered you have a mess.

please contact your representative and ask them to oppose this bill, don't take it for granted that someone else will or that they know about the bill.
I contacted mine today and he had no idea about the bill or what is was banning. This is scarry.
