How would you compare the bite of a dry

poison1981 Feb 16, 2009 08:55 PM

COmpared to the bite of a king that was the same length (six feet)

What about compared to a same length common boa?

Similar length animals a Drymarchon can inflict a more severe bite. There speed jaw pressure and teeth are hard to beat in the ophidian world.

I don't know Nate, dry vs. king maybe, but a six foot boa has a huge head (especially a female) and is worlds stronger than either. I would happily take a bite from a 6 foot king or dry compared to a hit from one of my six foot boas.

I would not argue that a 6' boa has a stronger squeeze than a Dry but they have no where near the jaw strength of Drymarchon. I've been bit by both, more Boas than Dry's but I for sure would rather deal with a ticked boa than a ticked Dry. I do think a ETB or Chondro can inflict a nasty bite but Dry's are rip and tear where as the later just lock down.

I would prefer not to get bit (but don't mind) by either!

I've been bit by a large dry and a larger python - both were feeding incidents.

One healed in a day - the other required stitches and left me with a scar.

I'd take a bite from a boid any day over a dry.

I love this topic : )

I have had feeding bites from 6 ft anacondas and various pythons...I avoid Drymarchon bites at all costs. I learned that one from the misfortune of others...and I want to keep it that way.
