Having trouble locating cage supplies...

BrandonSander Feb 18, 2009 02:27 PM

I've noticed that some people use some sort of corrugated cardboard as cage and tub liners. I remember that someone posted a link to where to buy it, but after searching through four pages of the boa forum as well as the sub forums I can't seem to find any information.

It's probable that I simply overlooked the post, but if someone could direct me to either the original thread or to the company link I'd be very grateful.

Thanks!

If you live close to one of their hubs you can pick it up in person. Shipping can be quite expensive.

Thanks James and Silver. I was actually typing up my own response when you two chimed in. I didn't expect such a quick response, but Thank you both very much!

I deeply apologize. One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone calls another person by the wrong name. Getting a person's name right is the first line of respect.

I just finished emailing a friend named James and I think that is why I accidentally typed James... my brain was thinking Jason... but my fingers weren't.

No problem Brandon.

It's a pet peeve of mine too. I had a customer one time who kept calling me Juan. Even after I corrected them on several different occasions. After awhile I felt like they were doing it on purpose out of disrespect. So I'm big on getting names right. It has nothing to do with you and I know you meant no disrespect.

Thanks for posting the additional links!

I found what I was looking for by doing a Google search. I was on the right track.

"Single Face Corrugated Roll"

Here are a few links to companies supplying this for anyone else interested:

PaperMart
Fast-pack
Anchorbox
Citation Box
Global Industrial

I haven't really browsed through them too much to see who is offering the best quality or quantity for the money, but this should help out anyone else get started.

if you can find a local packing and shipping place that carries it, Or will carry it. That is what we did and it only costs $20 a roll.

That's a great point!
I work for a packaging distributer and if you can find one locally that carries it, that's the way to go. Sadly my company has a 25 roll min. for the indented kraft so it's not cost effective for me. I still use newspaper, lucky for me the girls at my office keep me supplied for free. If you want to use newsprint local newspapers sometimes give away butt rolls (excess roll stock) of the unprinted newspaper as well.

Good luck in your search!

If you frequent a deli or another place that sells newspapers and are a "known" or perhaps "unknown" (depends on person operating the business) customer you can ask them for the newspapers they didn't sell.

In order for most places to get a credit they only cut a small portion of the front page to give back to their suppliers as proof of credit.

Offer to come pick them up before they usually tie them up for the trash, saves them time as well. Most keep them to certain amount pile up and then discard them.

I do this and always have enough clean free substrate to go around. I even prefer the NY Daily News because it lines 2221's perfectly LOL!!!!
