shedding problem: please help

trex8692 Feb 18, 2009 04:31 PM

my leo is about 6 months old and is about 5-6 inches long

recently (about 2 wks ago) it has shed and everything has come off cleanly except for 1 part on the front of the snout. The unshed skin somewhat resembles a ^ in shape on the nose and some of it covers the animal's eyes.

The leo cannot open its eyes fully. Other than that everything else seems normal, there is no shrinkage of the tail.

I have a humid/cool/warm hide, so i dont understand what could possibly be the problem.

The tank temperatures run aroudn the range of 80-90.
--------------------------------------

How do i get rid of this excess skin, as im starting to worry greatly about the health of my pet. I know about and have tried the warm water/qtip method but to no avail. Is there ANY other way i can fix this problem?

Try swabbing the area with a Q-tip dipped in hydrogen peroxide to remove the excess skin

wont the hydrogen peroxide have the possibility of getting into the eyes, causing massive pain/blindness?

ive herad about a warm wet soak method but i need some more info on how exactly to do it

does anybody else have suggestions?

Obviously you are going to want to avoid getting it into the eyes. If it does get in the eyes it will most likely irritate them...............if if aren't confident in your hand's steadiness, you could dilute the hydrogen peroxide with vinegar first.
