Natures Spirit Incubators

oc-balls Feb 18, 2009 05:21 PM

Have any of you used the Natures Spirit Incubator?

This will be my first year to have more than one clutch, and I'm looking for something a little larger than my Hovabator. I hope to have 4 clutches, so this size should do just fine.
I'm looking for any opinions (good or bad).

Also - which works better the Helix DBS1000 pulse proportional thermostat or the Herpstat by Spyder Robotics?

Thank you for your time,
Ken

I have one that I got 3 years ago and it still working like a champ. I am using the Helix DBS 1000. Last year I had 13 clutches of eggs in the incubator and still had more room for more. You can not go wrong with this one..

When I bought mine it came with 3 shelves. Now all the containers were not the same size. I also had Honduran, Irian Jaya Pythons and Ball eggs. The containers for Hondurans are smaller than the ones I use for Balls. The probe that came with the unit is on the bottom shelve hanging in front of the fan.

I have used the Nature Spirit Incubator for 2 seasons. There is about a 5 degree temp variation from top to bottom, in my setup. I have mine in the basement where my ambient temp is 67 - 70 degrees, so this variation may be a result of my environment. I have had very bad results with the Helix thermostat. Last year mine went out. When I called the manufacturer, they blamed it on a power spike and wanted to send me a shunt? I can not recommend Helix thermostat for any application. Switch to Herpistat as soon as possible.

If you are having more than 1 degree difference between the top and bottom of the incubator, there may be a problem that is "fixable" Feel free to call me. Thanx. Casey
