Jock, Have you ever thought about changing substrates. I keep griseus as well and the dig like crazy. I am planning on moving mine to a 10'10' cage in the summer with a 10' trough to hold substrate. The subestrate I use is about 70% sand and 30% soil and it works great I justallow it to dry more than myother cages.

no not really sand is working good so far! though i am going to rebuild my cage as well and make it 12x8x6 fully inclosed and insulated. it will be about one foot off the ground and have 3-4 feet a sand soil mix as you have stated. this will allow for full borrowing habits and keep substrate up in the 80s... hopefully!

have you successfully bred yours? how old are they?

Nice griseus, must be having tons of fun with them. Cant wait to see pics of the 12 foot cage you will be housing them in the future. You need a permit to keep these right?

just went down there and the male was on top of the female moving back and forth, though they were under the cover with just there heads and necks out.:/ so i looked on the web cam and saw that they had been there for 5 minutes or so!! maybe its just wishful seeing though its possible they were breeding!

hi,

That could indeed be breeding behaviour!
My rudi's don't do it in the open eather.
All I see is the last parts of their tails curled around eachother and sometimes their heads sticking out of the same log.
