Too late for breeding introductions???

tattooedsnake13 Feb 19, 2009 12:26 PM

Is it too late to introduce a male to a female? I know the appropriate time is November, but my balls just came of weight and I was wondering if it a viable concept that I would have hatchlings by the Daytona show...Thank you for your time

NO !! . there is a natural breeding season , BUT you can actually breed at any time , but only once a year per snake , it just depends on when you cool them . If you breed out of the normal season and you won’t to go back to the traditional season you will have to skip a year to 2years depending on what date they last laid a clutch . Hope this helps . Is it logical if I make my introductions this weekend, that I may have hatchlings by the Daytone show (late August)?

I breed for 3-5 months a year and get eggs laid usually May-October. I know people with larger collections than mine that get eggs 11-12 months out of the year now from fall/winter breeding. You just never know with ball pythons.

if you didn't breed yet....go ahead?

even if you didn't introduce the male to female, she MAY still be going through a cycle that would make her ovulate any day now to any month now?....so if you breed her at least an hour (yea I know,days)...before she ovulates...the sperm will be in the oviducts ready to meet the ovum when ovulation causes it to drop down into them.........

as long as it's in there , it's in there....

does not matter if it's been there a day or 4 months waiting for ovulation....

does it help to breed 10 times and have her all ready to go for months...?....YES.........

but it could all go well....

breed all winter, ovulate March , lay May, hatch July....
breed today, ovulate March, lay May, hatch July....all possible...

even if she goes late....so do alot that I been breeding for months now....I get eggs from June till late August I think it was....
