I'm just telling you what Tremper told me yesterday when I asked him. You can call them Jalapeno Kings for all I care.

No problem!
I´m only a little bit confused, because I asked Ron 1 day before I posted them and he wrote me, that these Kennelyis cam from El Paso. No word, that they were Western and the litle crawlers on his side looks similar.

Greetings
Stefan

The belly on your snake is decidedly "western" as opposed to this Mexican from Brewster county (same local as most of Brad and Tremper's Mexicans).

But if you're still undecided count the Loreal and azygous scales and see what it keys out to (the key is only between 93% & 97% accurate). 97% of kennerlyi have 8 or fewer azygous scales and 93% have 2 or fewer total loreals.

Here's a few of my kennerlyi from Brewster county Texas

Thanks for the explain.
It´s great to learn something new but it is realy hard to realize that not every offered Kennerlyi is a Kennerlyi.
It dosn´t matter if they came from a big and known breeder.

Great pics and beautyful Mexicans

I got a pair of these Heterodon kennerlyi from Ron Tremper. They are locality Mexican Hognose from Marathon, Texas.

To me the pics you posted looks like western Hognose to me. They look different then the Mexicans I have.

FastDad Feb 25, 2009 05:24 AM

Hey, that´s great.
Can you tell me, if they were Westerns or Mexicans or a mix of both?
