glow before they go

squidlyjoe Feb 19, 2009 05:11 PM

Ive noticed that the 4 girls I'm breeding this year are in the "glow before they go" phase. They have been with males since the first week of october and they didnt appear to glow until their 3rd shed each since I cooled them. One of the girls is now going into shed again. I haven't seen an ovulation but I am out of the house from 5 am until about 7 pm so it wouldnt surprise me if I missed it. My question is should I expect eggs 30 days after she finishes this shed? I apologize for asking rookie questions because I see alot of them on here and I would like to thank all of the experienced breeders for being so patient with us.
Thanks
Bob

they "blow up" for more than a few hours....days even

they breed for 8 hours to days even...

you only miss stuff because we don't look for it, or don't look at them for a few days at a time...(I don't)...

....they go when they go....

.....months yet for me....don't know how many females this year? 25 plus?....(sold off 9 big girls so I forget what I added)....

...time....

If it is the pre lay shed like you believe, usually it is about 30 days after this shed that they lay. Witnessing the ovulation deffinetly helps to judge the time frame but nothing is in stone... Good luck this season
