Leo Weights

JannieWolf Feb 19, 2009 09:35 PM

Does anyone know what the average weight for a Leo is? My Mojave is 2 years old. She's 11 inches but only just getting to 60-63 grams.

She eats some crickets but loves her mealies and wax worms which are almost always available to her. Her tail is fat too. I get the feeling she should be heavier tho.

I wouldn't be suprised if she's dwarfed. All the women in my family are 5 ft and under and the family dog is a corgi who's small for his breed. My luck works that way.

I have no idea what other people are averaging their leo weight as, but I would say my females (1.5 years or older) all average out to be around 60 grams. My males average out to be even higher than that.

Some of the "morphs" have a tendency to be smaller too. All the Rainwater albinos I have ever had were smaller than other leos at the same age(s).

I have heard other people tell me that enigmas also don't get as large..........I have no bearing on the validity of that statement, as I will not work with enigmas until the kinks are worked out.

She looks heavy enough to me.

That said, mine is just a hair under 10" (hard to be exact, cause it's not like they sit still or lie down straight on a ruler for you ) and last time I weighed her (admittedly quite a while ago), she came in at roughly 75 grams, and looks slightly thinner than yours, at least from that picture. Are you sure yours is really 11" long?

I just measured her again and she's actually just 9 inches tip to tail. For some reason I thought she was bigger.

Do they grow much more over the years?

9 inches and 60-ish grams is just fine. As far as additional growth goes, you won't really see any additional length, but you might see her pack on another 5-10 grams over time, depending on diet, activity levels, etc.
