Can someone guide me to some web sites that list plants that are safe (as well as the toxic ones) for turtles? Preferably, one that lists plants by their common names. Neither my turtles nor I are botanists, so scientific names are useless!
Welcome to kingsnake.com's message board system. Here you may share and discuss information with others about your favorite reptile and amphibian related topics such as care and feeding, caging requirements, permits and licenses, and more. Launched in 1997, the kingsnake.com message board system is one of the oldest and largest systems on the internet.

Ideally you should know both names (Latin and common), because common names vary, are shared, change regionally, and so forth. In other words, common names can be unreliable.

Toxic list: http://www.chelonia.org/Articles/plantsthatpoison.htm
May apples appear on both the lists linked above, and yet Eastern box turtles will eat them without ill effect. In fact, T.c.c is the only know disperser of may apple seeds (according to the literature I have here).
Her's oa another toxic plant list: http://www.tortoise.org/general/poisonp.html
