Burmese Brown baby enclosure

Reptileszz Feb 21, 2009 02:23 PM

Hi all, particularly Vic

For the time being I plan on keeping the baby by itself in a Vision cage that is 29"x24". The temp there (this time I am actually taking the temp with a decent thermometer instead of guessing) is 82-84 during the day and I'm estimating 75-77 at night. From what I have read temperature wise this should be fine without any additional heating for a baby Manouria, right? There is a vent on the back/top that I plan on putting a 15" uv tube on. It is somewhat filtered by the screening there. I plan on putting in several fake plants at the very least for "shade" and can try some real plants but not sure there would be enough light for them. Cypress mulch for bedding so it retains moisture?

Does this sound like a good plan?

Thank you very much.
Carole

That sounds good.Captives like a basking spot too.Sometimes the moist substrate will feel cold.Under tank heat can be helpfull, but be carfull. This has helped some people a lot.Just keep an eye on their eyes, they tend to get dryed out in winter with a heated room even with the damp substrate.Ares with damp spag.moss helps to along with misting. They love misting, make sure they get a face full.Water container should be shallow, and you might try it under the basking spot. They hate chilly water.Good luck, they get a lot tuffer after the first year.Let us know how it does when it gets to go outside, thats when the beast comes out! Live free or die.....out.Vic
