just a quick question

this one is about lighing and heating...

for those keepers that have jcp in like display cages that are 2 ft tall or taller, bhow do you guys get the correct temps for jcp that like to stay in the trees..

i was looking at a cage for a young jcp pair that i would be getting in summer that is 24 by 18 by 24.

i was going to have a UTH but i didnt know if that would make a good choice since iwill have vies for them to climb on and if they go to the top i dont want them to get colder.

so would it be smarter to use a UTH or get the correct lights to give the gradent thast they will need

thanks came out longer than i thought

Heat rises.

I use heat panels with all my arboreal snakes... they like to bask underneath them.

I use under cage heating. Many carpets prowl at night when there is no heat from the sun and the ground is warmer. Just provide a gradiant with the proper temps, and the snake will sort it out. They do it in the wild, they'll do it in a cage

I use heat panels. Offer a horizontal temp gradient and not a vertical one, so that the snake can stay at the desired temps without sacrificing the need for height, cover, etc.

While I agree that they sort it out in the wild, I feel that an overhead heat source more naturally mimics the sun/natural environment.
