INTRODUCING THE MYSTIC POTION BALL

anthony james mc Feb 22, 2009 09:02 PM

Well after a long hard road the effort is finally starting to head in the direction I often times dreamed of at night! This is the cross using a Mystic male and a female Mojave I got from my friend Mark Petros. I think the Mystic project is just starting to get it's feet wet. Hopefully soon one of us will make the Super Mystic (shouldn't be hard to guess now what that will look like). I also hope to put the Crystal genetics into the Mystics too before long! The Mystic is a powerful gene and it looks to be yet another type of Phantom to me, slowing evolving the theory into fact! I have 2 of them , the other one is just as if not nicer but it isn't out yet. Can't wait to see how they look with some size on them! Hope you enjoy the pics. Please no smart comments as I haven't got the time for it.. Nice comments however are greatly appreciated!

Thats awesome!! Congrats on proving out that part of your theory, even if I think the name is kind of corny!

anthony james mc Feb 23, 2009 02:18 AM

Shane, I figured the Mystic name needed to be in there so people wouldn't get to confused. To call it a Mystic Mojave however sounds very blaaaahhhhhh to me... The name on ANY of this is just a name , it's really what it does that matters in all truthfulness, not what it's chosen name is . Mystic Potion isn't a hard name to figure out if you think much at all about it. Besides they aren't born with labels in their mouth saying what they "should" or "shouldn't" be called! Least not the ones at my place anyway, lol...

Anthony,

I know we've talked a lot about these guys over the past few days and I just want to make sure you know how excited I am about this project! I'm so glad I got that pair from you a couple years ago! We may very well see a Super Mystic from either one, or both of us this year. My Mystic male and female locked up last week. Also, the mystic male bred a female Lesser Platinum over the weekend (caught them in the act last night when I got home!). I'm also going to stretch him a little and breed him to a couple of the best female mojaves I've ever produced. I already bred him to several normal females earlier this Winter, but I think its worth the chance of stretching him out with more females after seeing how awesome crossing them into mojaves comes out. I think there are so many crosses to be done with this morph. What happens when you produce a super or mojave cross and add caramel albino, lavender albino, pastel, etc., etc.. Endless combinations and possibilities! Congratulations again and good job seeing a project where many others wouldn't have!

To all those who have a project that isn't quite there yet, DO NOT give up , you may be surprised what you find if you breed in the proper direction and take a chance here and there. If you believe in it don't stop till your absolutely sure of what you have!

Food for thought, my first Super Stripe ball came from a weird female that looked alot like a Fire, I was thinking when I bred that Yb to her that I'd make Yb Fires which I knew were really neat. I got 1 single Super Stripe out of 9 eggs , that's it.. Now imagine if I had not got that one "magic" egg (or it didn't hatch and went bad) and I only got the other 8 eggs, had that been the case I likely would NOT have bred in that direction ever again and would NEVER have figured out what I really had (whirlwinds, YB's and that Super Stripe). I would have wrote her off as just another pretty female Ball if she didn't make that first Super Stripe when she did! The whirlwinds are so subtle anybody would have overlooked them without seeing that Super Stripe sibling along side the whirlwinds.. Crazy stuff isn't it...

Anyway back to the Mystic Potions, here are the 2 boys..
One pic take with flash, one pic without flash..
Again a big thanks to those that made a comment!

'Mystic Mojave' says exactly what they are.
And it has an added ring of intrigue in the name.... 'mystic'

'Mystic Potion'??

Sounds like the name of some grade-B rapper's energy drink. Sorry, just what comes to mind.

Congrats on proving your Mystics belong in the vast 'het white snake/leucy' Ball complex.

They look grrrreat!

BB

Thanks for your post but the name is set, sorry... There is an old saying " you can please some of the people most of the time, BUT you can't please all of the people all of the time"....

If you look up Potion in the dictionary the name fits...
Anthony McCain

Pic is of the original imported Mystic male, he is ALOT more than just a Mojave, that has now become fact! Time to move forward now!

blaws Feb 23, 2009 03:11 PM

This looks like the same morph Serpents Den produced last year.

anthony james mc Feb 23, 2009 03:20 PM

I kinda seen a resemblance as they were first hatching out, but after they came out I don't think these are Energy Balls at all . The faint pattern is too different , these are ALOT more like faint versions of Super Phantoms and look less like the Energy Ball if you put them up side by side on your screen.. Good problems to have I guess!

Anthony McCain

illbeyoursoldier Feb 24, 2009 09:53 AM

Nahhh, I'd have to disagree with that as well. Yes they both have similar coloration, but the Energy has this weird pattern to it that the Mystic Potion definitely does not have.

Those are really hot looking snakes, congrats on your success as well as your relentless pursuit of the project. The Super Mystic has to look equally cool, can`t wait to see it. Well, you told me I`d need a male Mystic in my breeder stable and now I know I do.
Nice that you already have pastel Mystics to work into this project. Introducing pastels,yb`s, fires, etc will only enhance this already impressive morph. You`re doing pretty good for using weird looking normals to start these super projects.LOL
The ball python world now patiently waits for the Super Berkley...
All kidding aside, congratulations on a truly impressive morph !!!

Its perfect. To me a "potion" would be the mixing together of ingredients that come together to create something magical. Awesome, awesome combo. I think this will be a lot of peoples new favorite. Congrats Anthony. You have earned the rewards. Jeff

gixxerrobballs Feb 24, 2009 03:53 PM

AMEN i totally agree...

anthony james mc Mar 02, 2009 08:14 AM

My girlfriend ,her daughter and I brainstormed possible names for about half an hour before we narrowed it down to this name . We all thought this name made the most sense and figured keeping the Mystic name would keep it simplier too.

I'll get more pics once they shed , it's to cold outdoors to take pics of them on my stump so I'll have to just do what I can inside, lol . I'll be able to get some really cool pics of them this spring , by then they should have shed a few times and colored up fully.

Again thanks everyone for your post!

pitoon Feb 24, 2009 11:26 AM

Many congrats to you bud! Let's hope that my female proves out to be something special as well. If mine proves out to be something similar, i guess i will have to make up a European name for it, lol!!!

post some more pics!!!

Pitoon

Is she or is she not????

anthony james mc Feb 24, 2009 11:36 AM

Thanks again folks!

Pitoon if you want my humble opinion on that one, the more I look at those pics she looks to be having something Yb like going on with her more than something phantom like going on with her.

I have a weird Yb I got from a friend in chicago last fall, she looks phantom like some days but really seems to just be some sort of weird and I mean weird YB . This may not make sence to alot of folks as a classic phantom really doesn't look much like a classic Yb but the 2 morphs have alot more in common than one might think. I think that's why RDR bred YB to phantom so early on as he must have noticed they were alot alike in some odd ways..

Anyway you will find out Pitoon, best of luck, Anthony...

pitoon Feb 24, 2009 11:40 AM

haha!!!! she'll be proving out for me this season with my lesser!!!! white snake come on

man i can't get my eyes off those pics!!! really cool pattern and color on those two you produced.

post some single shots will you, lol!!!!
