New Borneo Pics

knigh006 Feb 23, 2009 03:51 PM

I just got a baby borneo python on 2/20/09 from www.lllreptile.com Its my first time to own a snake, but one of my buddies has a ball python and I find myself always looking at his. I used this site as well as a few others for research and decided on a borneo python. Thought I would post a few pics( hope this works) I know your supposed to wait a week, but a fed her a pinky mouse on saturday, just to see if she would and she ate it right away. I was pretty excited. I have held her a few times for about 10 minutes and let her crawl around on my bed. She has yet to hiss or strike, so maybe I got a keeper. Had to put that bucket in there over the water bowl to allow me to keep a sponge on top to keep the humidity up. Thanks for looking:

Congrats on your first snake, I am far from an expert on Blood Pythons, But I would suggest a few things, I would invest $25 and buy a temp gun from Pro Exotics, I would make sure to monitor the temps, and make sure they are not getting too hot or not warm enough, I would also watch the humidity, make sure its not Soaking wet in its enclosure, but you don't want it too dry either.

The last thing, for a blood that size, a Pinkie mouse is WAY to small of a meal, Bloods that size can easily be fed adult mice or even rat chubs.

I wouldn't take my word for it, ask around...get other peoples opinions.

The temp gun is my favorite tool, I check temps in my enclosures every day to monitor how things are going, I highly suggest getting one and checking your temps, often times when people set up enclosures, the temps can be way off...

best of luck..
