what a beautiful baby!

here's junior... i need to take an updated pic or two. hard to believe how tiny she was when i first got her over 5 years ago!

clemmysman Feb 24, 2009 05:14 PM

Yeah.. let's see what the front-half of junior looks like unchikun! Was junior comin' or goin'???

Reminded me of this one:

The new keeper of this one calls him "Chucky".. maybe because he came into the world backwards - and - he is a little devil. [ he DID incubate for about 132 days! ]
I told him he was fine when he left here.. but then 'Chucky' was just a few months old then..

He looks O.K. to me..

Thanks, Richard. It is easy when the torts cooperate and pose like the supermodels they are! Ha! Just kidding. I love taking pics of them. I love your tort shots as well.

allegraf Feb 24, 2009 05:21 PM

Here are some pics of three of my cherryhead females. We have added so many new torts, I can't keep up with the pics so here are some of the oldies but goodies. Enjoy.

Thanks for the pics Allegra! Most don't realize the Brazilians come in different colors also. And some "marble".. and some don't.

Hi Terry....You know Pio...he is still looking good...thanks to your care sheets.

unchikun Feb 24, 2009 07:05 PM

what YELLOW eyes they have! love the big red neck blotches, too!

one thing that i've noticed is the variations in eye colors that i've seen... yellow, brown, green and grey (which is what junior's are). can anyone in the know about regional redfoot variations say whether the different eye colors are more typical in certain regions?

below is one of the first pics i took of junior, so tiny that a blueberry wedge is more than a mouthful...

allegraf Feb 24, 2009 07:08 PM

That is a great shot! Such a small thing like a blueberry looks so huge next to the tort. I love it!

jhnscrg Feb 25, 2009 07:07 PM

My baby LOVES blueberies, picks them out first. Is this a Redfoot thing?

I can't believe I caught this on video. [ if there's a better way to post this let me know ]

A "PIP" trying to eat?

that is so ridiculously cute! what was he trying to eat, a piece of eggshell or something? bet he's gonna grow up to be a complete pig...

also i laughed when he did what we call "the claw" (wiping his little face). junior does "the claw" not only when she has something on her face, but sometimes as if to let us know that she doesn't want something!

below is a recent pic of her peeking out of the newspaper shreds she digs into to sleep at night.

Ivory Tortoise Feb 25, 2009 01:24 PM

This is a picture of a Bolivian Red-foot tortoise I purchased from Pet Farm in 1979. She is just over 16-inches and produces beautiful babies for me every year (eggs incubating now).

mayday Feb 25, 2009 06:01 PM

Nice Bolivian. My wife (who was my girlfriend in 1979)and I spent three hours picking through that group of Bolivians (there were 500) at Pet Farm for the two most beautiful specimens. I think they were $40.00 each?
Anyway, neither of mine ever fed and both died in less than a week. I was hugely disappointed but I heard from some employees there that many of the others also died as mine did.
But I am glad that at least some of them made it into the hands of those who bred them.
BTW, I saw a number of individuals that were over 18 inches.

clemmysman Feb 26, 2009 01:27 AM

Notice the 'dark' plastron on that big girl. She's a beauty!

Would you like me to post one of those "Brazilians" of yours Carl? Let me know which one(s).

Terry

mayday Feb 26, 2009 06:19 AM

No.
I can post my own photos.

clemmysman Feb 26, 2009 08:47 AM

Good.. I'm glad you've learned how. You had recently mentioned on another forum.. on a similar thread.. that you didn't know if you knew how to post pics. You certainly have had several beauties that you've shared pics with me in the past.

Terry

clemmysman Feb 26, 2009 11:50 AM
