Hogg Island Boa??

reptilejunkie Feb 24, 2009 06:37 PM

I was sold this girl as a "pure Hogg Island Boa"". She doesn't have a lot of speckling like I've seen with other Hoggs. She is almost 2 years old and 5-6ft. I understand there has been alot of cross breeding with red tail boas. She is a great snake and I don't really care what type of boa she is. Just curious.

...and in my opinion could easily be pure Hog Island. They have a large amount of variability in the amount of speckles they have. Many of the breeders I have dealt with grow them a little slower than what seems to be popular for the common red-tails and more along the lines of true red-tails resulting in a more long-term goal of breeding and longevity.
