my dog has always had complete access to my 3-toed and 2 baby
sulcatas. i called him in the other day and he brought in one of
the sulcatas in his mouth. this had happened before but he was
extremely gentle, bringing one in and turning it loose in the
house. this time the baby was badly damaged with puncture wounds
and part of the front portion of the carapace and plastron
essentially detached but hanging on. it was hideous. i taped him
up and he went to the hospital. now hes back, wired and acrylic'd
back together, getting shots which are horrible to give to such
a little guy- hes about tennis ball size. so beware, it was
terrible. all turtle/tortoise books warn you of this but after
enough time goes by they seem plenty safe with the dog around.
.. . lesson learned the hard way.
