Florida king comparison

foxturtle Feb 25, 2009 03:02 PM

Its a warm day and my snake room once again got into the 70s so all my snakes were out and active. I threw these two together for a quick picture.

These two represent the most colorful and colorless of my normal FL kings. The lighter/yellower one is an F1 female from Hillsborough County, FL collected parents (not from a sulfur line). She's got a lot of green and and yellow in her colors. Still pretty small at 32", she'll probably be a lot nicer at full size.

The darker colorless one is a would-be brooksi male wild caught from Dade County. He looks almost look axanthic, especially by comparison. He's full grown.

The lighting in this picture is horrible, but you can clearly see the difference.

The tail position is a coincidence. They aren't mating and were only together for a minute.

The Dade Cty. Brooksi interests me in the way it resembles a het Peanut Butter. Those hets have a distinct look, very interesting....I would flip if you produced babies and bred them to each other and got PBs haha, both are very nice snakes.

...may never get bred. A friend collected him on a small canal down there in 2007 and he hasn't found a female there yet. I've got a WC Dade Brooksi female, but I'm planning on breeding a nice brooksi male to her. If that male doesn't go for it, then I'll probably breed the one in the picture to her.
