I know several of you guys do snake shows for kid. My brother is doing a grand opening, so I was going to bring a my snakes for the kids to hold and take pics with.
Do you guys recommend I ask the parents to sign a waiver?

I don't think a waiver is necessary, but I would ask the kids to get their parents permission. I just recommend holding the business end of the big snakes and close supervision of the little ones.
Hey Dave:
I do snake birthday parties and educational seminars in the Bay Area and I have never had anyone sign a waiver.
I learned a long time ago from a lawyer that unless you can prove neglagence it is very dificult to sue the owner of an animal for biting or injuring someone. The law sees animals as being unprdictable and therefore owners cannot be fully resposnible for their actions.
I always give a short lesson on how to handle the snakes. I explain that snakes are generally head shy. I then explain to the people that if a snake perceives your actions as a threat they can and sometimes will strike.
Make sure the snakes you bring are just totally docile......
I usually don't bring any more than 6 snakes to the shows that I do. The more animals you bring, the more dificult it is to manage.
With all that being said if there is any doubt in your mind about having them sign a waiver then do it, it sure couldn't hurt.
If you have any questions please give me a call at (408)981-6694.
I hope you're having a great season.
Brian
