i have dealt with mites before, but only with a rescue now and then that i took in. i have found mites on both my albino boa and albino tiger retic, then i looked on my female striped tiger and she has some (although i lucked out there because she is gonna shed soon). my big tiger male doesnt have any. i am almost positive they got these mites from a bad batch of cypress. they are my breeders (and future breeders) they have never had mites ever. and with everybody's last cage clean and the last bag of cypress for each of them, i found mites. nothing horrible and being in veterinary medicine i am taking care of it. most of them dont seem to be the same mites i have dealt with, with any of the rescues. they are black but very small and alot of them seem to be just crawling around only a few are under the scales hooked on skin. now to my question, i have heard that one of the benefits of visions and animal plastics, and neodesha when they were around, is that due to the plastic surface and angles, they are confined to that particular cage (unless or until you take the animals out and they fall off on the ground or something). but i was just wandering if thats true. that they travel easier between wood type cages where they can grip and climb as opposed to visions, animal plastics and such.
