Turn up the heatttttttttttttt.

Haha, you should include some facts about your setup like temperatures. Help others help you.

Mike.

Make sure the temps are high enough, and a hot enough basking site. Try smaller food items. Instead of a mouse, put 3-5 fuzzies in a dish and leave it in there for a day.

Smaller food and also as much of a pain as it is for bigger savs try insects- either roaches, super worms or crickets. You will have to feed a lot of them to fill him but odds are he will eat them.

And, turn up the heaatttttttt.

Have it checked out by a vet for general health slash parasites? Probably an import so probably has parasites unless otherwise treated.

Is it possible it's already too hot/dehydrated?

Shouldn't the temps be posted before telling him to "turn up the heat"?

Good point Susan. Yes, it is possible, that's why I said "make sure they're hot enough" rather than "increase temps".

Hey, any new videos lately?

Haha!! I love it. I have a baby snapper that just 'woke up' last week. How cute are they?)

I'm working on more vids, but love those close up shots!

Mike H. Mar 01, 2009 09:49 AM

HAHA...yes, cute/ugly all wrapped in one. This one belongs to a local friend. I always photograph his stuff. It's a 75 pounder!

I recently finished up my very first attempt at video making. It's a Tree Boa video. You'll see a couple quick glimpses of my best friend/brother Mike Stefani in there too.

Seriously though, what ever do they feed that monster? And does it have it's own pond??
Also, how long did it take them to grow it that size- 15+ years??

Thanks for posting that Mike.
Awesome snapper!

Mike H. Mar 02, 2009 06:50 PM

That belongs to my buddy Brian. Turtles are his passion. Right now it lives in a huge tub in his basement, but a custom kingdom for "his majesty" is in the works.

Brian has some awesome stuff. Last year while the Loves were over visiting, I brought them to Brian's. Bill was pretty impressed!

My eyes are bad- is that a mata mata, or however you spell it?

Don't tell me it's just a branch, or I will have to have my eyes checked @!@

your eyes MUST be bad LOL

He doesn't have any Mata Matas. He's got a pair of very impressive Impress Tortoises. Those are something I definitely need to photograph outdoors when the weather gets better.

Your husbandry is wrong, and you are going to kill one, or more monitors, soon.

If you had terrific husbandry, you would recognize the importance of terrific husbandry, and you would post the details of such.

Since you post ZERO helpful husbandry details, it obviously isn't that important or key to you. But it is important to your monitor.

Check out our caresheet on Savs at our site, it covers the basics.

I would recommend addressing husbandry issues immediately, and hope that your monitors can make a turn around.

Best of luck.

I did jump to conclusions I suppose about crankin the heat up but generally the heat is too low in most cases of not eating. 'generally.' i'm not a vet though, just an observation.

From the ominous silence perhaps the poor thing died.

To importers and vendors who sell poor thin wormy dying animals to people that don't know better, I hope theres a special corner in hell.

rappstar609 Mar 03, 2009 01:25 PM

Cheers to that.
