Cleaning

I am currently using Reptile Turf as the substate for my ball python tank. It needs to be cleaned and i was wondering if anyone has any good suggestions of how to clean it. Thanks

...cage carpets and turfs are extremely difficult to clean and disinfect, and subsequently become quite STANKY! Short of soaking in detergent (ie a Quaternary ammonium type disinfectant), rinse, then Clorox (1:10-15 dilution), rinse, then drying, the material will have a short cage life. Plus the material can be hard on the belly of BP's. I use unprinted newsprint and a kraft-paper type of material for cage substrate.

I soak my astoturf in a mild bleach solution overnight. Rinse very well and hang-up to dry. Have two pieces and it's easy to take care of. I have not had any oder problems and the bleach kills the bacteria.
