Transparent egg?

niddy Feb 28, 2009 08:53 PM

Hey gang...got a coupla eggs getting ready to hatch...I think.

One's dimpling and looks exactly like the pictures do (how long are they like this?)

And the other one is still very huge, but seems to be "sweating," and getting all thin and transparent. Is this normal?

Thanks everyone!

They should hatch in a day or so at most. I assume they were hatched 60 days ago or more?

Yessir. 72 days. One's still perfectly round (oval) and white, and one's starting to "suck in" or pucker, then we have the still round, translucent sweaty one. So that IS normal?

Thanks, BD...I know I can always count on you!

sweating is definitely normal and indicates hatching is imminent. Post the eggs outcome when you have one.

Here's a picture of the 4 left from her 1st clutch (I guess I need to ask in another thread why we lost so many...she started with 15 good ones and 2 "duds"

The top left...our biggest. We just shined a light into it and saw the lil guy wigglin like crazy!

Top right...This is the one I was asking about. It was sweaty and transparent, but still round yesterday. Today it looks more yellowish and dimpling a bit. Still healthy??

Bottom left...Smaller than our big one, but getting that transparent "spot" starting. Still healthy?

Bottom right....Started dimpling like 4-5 days ago, but is still very white. Still healthy?

Here's the pic: Thanks again, guys!

Very nice picture I am awaiting to see the outcome with eagerness. I wake up and check the forum like you would of posted pics up late in the night if they hatched. Hope everything works out for you. What is the bedding material you are using for the eggs?

Thanks! And I use Sta-Green Horticultrual Vermiculite. Got it at Lowes or Home Depot.

I really thought today you would come on and say they hatched. Kinda a downer lol. HOpe they are ok though

Just looked at the picture now. Some pictures won't show on my office computer. Frankly I'm not real excited about how any of them look except the top left. The top right looks the worst. Mine have always been completely white until they hatched. All you can do is keep waiting at this point. It's odd they lasted so long if they're not viable.
