Baby gone walkabout returned!

Back in early September before my reptile room was built and my basement was a massive clutter I turned my back for a moment on a hatchling yellow rat while feeding. It was in a plastic container and I'd guess the lid wasn't secured all the way so it got out and disappeared. An unsucessful search was made and I figured that was it for it.
Well my wife came down the basement steps yesterday saying look what I found outside by the back stoop! She had the rat and it was in perfect health! None the worse for wear. Must have been hibernating in the garage or under the back deck and came out with this weekends 55 degree weather!
How about that!
He did take a long drink of water though.

Mike.
PS- Do you think that would count on her life list as a New Jersey caught yellow rat?

That reminds me of my buddys corn snake.
I had given him a nice albino male for his daughter and he escaped from his tank in January never to be seen again. While playing a game of darts in his shed (which is about 100 yards from his house)we found him perched on top a trash can in the shed in October! He was doubled in size.

Nothing like letting it take care of itself through those difficult first couple of months.
