Very nice!
I wish I had a nice camera with me the other day (and new how to use it, lol) as I saw a COMPLEATLY white hawk of some kind.
Randy, You're in CO, right?
Where did you see this bird?
As a falconer I would LOVE to know, I'm tracking an albino Red Tail in the Boulder area..We think he's about 9 years old...

It was on 104th within a quarter mile east of where it crosses over Hwy 36. Landed in one of the trees in an open area there on the south side of 104th. Close enough to Boulder that it could well be your guy. I told my dad about it and he said he as seen some pretty white ferruginous hawks come down some winters but this was completely white so I'm thinking mutant of some kind.
We had albino badgers and raccoons out east 100 miles.
.......I gotta go Google it...the falcon/hawk that comes in white and not white color morphs from up north...cannot think of it at the momment.....
......hopefully I be back.......
one came around here years ago...they made a big deal of it and he even had his pic in the paper......
......albino redtail....hmmm...better than "Pale Male"......
....only albino bird I ever saw was a grackle....toes and beak even were white.........

.....oops...I forgot...not a common topic when they aren't around......
.....also said that there are white falcons in southern Argentina that are actually perigrins....but that's a little too far from Randy......
......look up Gyrfalcon Randy........some are all white with maybe specks or flecks I think...

I bet that's him!!
It's always nice to hear that he's still out there going strong!
I've heard of a couple people trying to catch him, I'm thankful they haven't. Their defense is that since he's all white there's no way to tell his age, so you could technically get away with capturing an 'immature' Give me a break.
JYohe, have never seen a gyr in Colorado, but if I do I WANT IT!!
Beautiful, beautiful birds.

There have been gyr sightings in northern Colorado, I dont remember when though. And some snowy owls out near Greely or even more North I think.
I'm from the Springs, we have an almost entirely white red tail I see a lot at one of our busiest intersections right in town!
