Taylori are funny looking critters,

terryd Mar 02, 2009 12:22 AM

With all their saddles & their black caps pushing down onto their nose. Give me a Pale w/ less saddles and a head cap that stays on their head, not their nose.

Here are a few c/b adult L.t. taylori, enjoy.

Two big females. Two feet long, 145 and 147 grams.

Nice looking yellow male. To breed w/ second female. Kind of looks like a multistrata, but it's a taylori.

Now this little scrapper male is proven @ 45 grams.

And this male is even smaller but still proven @ 35 grams. grrr who's your daddy?

Here is a belly shot of an neonate taylori heavily marked.

Now check out this neonate, same clutch.

Not much black to that belly, but plenty of red & white.

Here is a high bar of what a NA milk should look like. If you ask me. Pale milk-snakes!

And celaenops! Don't even get me started bout how bad they try to look like multistrata.Phhhaa as if they could.

Hey Doug,
Glad you like the Pale. I haven't started herping yet, still snow on the ground here in the Big Sky state.
And I hope I don't have to roll to many logs this year, I'm trying to stay in rock country this year.

Doug,
He's a w/c Stillwater co. subadult/adult. He is as big as the proven taylori I just posted. About 18" and 40 grams. I have a female picked out for him already, he just has to get it done now.

Here he is again.

One of the females he'll be spending quality time with.

I like the way they retain the orange and in the case of the male, the red with out fading to brown orange as many adults do.

Well done post!

Thanks Rusty,
I've had the taylori brewing for a little while now, and my two daughters had two of their friends over for a sleep over, so I hid in the computer room and worked on that post. It was either that or watch 5 and 9 year olds doing a fashion show and telling me about their shoes.
Girls are funny critters.

Thanks Mike,
The photos still need a little more work, as I'm a hack, but little by little I'm getting better.
I liked the rock back drop too, and will do a few more of these in the future.
What I really need is for the snow to melt so I can try some outdoor shots.

Doug,
This South Dakota animal is an 07, but huge. 20" and 45 grams.
All the other 07 Pale neonates that I have are half that size.
Cole G. produced the pair I have and his breeders are the giants of the multistrata world.

Whew, that's a crazy patterened alterna. Locality?
Mike you always have great photos of your animals. From what I've seen over the years your collection would be a joy to see in person.

very nice Dell. You don't see too many posts of taylori around here. Very refreshing to see some gorgeous examples. I can't believe those little guys stepped up to the plate and bred. that's cool.

Dave your right, we need to see more taylori posted, but I bet we don't. I hope a few people prove me wrong too.
Those little males are something else. I'll try and get a photo of the males and females together, the females are so much bigger it's laughable.

When the hell is Utah F&G going to come to it's
scences? Property of the State? Isn't the State, property of the tax payers? Doh! I just fell off my soap box! Oh well.
Nice snakes there Dell.

the drinking class!

terryd Mar 02, 2009 06:09 PM

Hi Phil,
Some things have loosened up on taylori in CO and UT, but you still have to want it pretty bad to make it work.

Hope your okay from your soap box fall. We must be using the same soap box, because I fall off mine all the time too.

Great photos Dell, nice use of rocks and the white background! Wish I had that kind of patience.
Not many taylori around anymore and you've got some dandy animals there - the pales are just excellent!

If Patrick Henry thought that taxation without representation was bad, he should see it with representation.

terryd Mar 02, 2009 09:58 PM

Thanks Jeff,
I knew you'd respond at some point to this post, your to much of a milkhead not to, and I know how much you like taylori.

It's a funny thing w/ photos and snakes, but I'm only bothered by lack of patience every tenth snake or so.
Well that's not true, every adult honduran I've ever tried to shoot, at some point I wanted to ring it's neck. Unless it's already sitting in it's tub undisturbed.

-Dell

Okay I can't put a honduran in this thread w/ out a NA milk to back it up and not let the hondurans take over the topic. "

Wowzer Dell. You have some nice pictures there. Hopefully I can get a little better using my camera this summer when I am the one without a job to keep me busy. No promises though.

Sunherp Mar 05, 2009 02:20 PM

No way! I don't think I've ever seen that locale posted before, Ryan! Nice animals! Are those from the line that goes "way back"?

A very simple "Damn" will suffice! Great snakes and very nice shots Dell!

terryd Mar 04, 2009 11:40 AM

Ryan, nice to see some other taylori posted. I'm lucky to have the winters off, but I'm to busy w/ the kids to claim time off helped me w/ my photos. I'm still a hack and know it.

Chris, Thanks for the kind words. It's good to see you posting again, I thought we'd lost you there for min.

Nice post, man! I was wondering when you'd get those photos up for everyone to see! I've got a "few" more that need their pictures taken, too... maybe Saturday? Hopefully I'll back in town and out of this damn snow we're having up at elevation.
