Update on rescued Plains Garter

Joeycoco98 Mar 02, 2009 09:11 PM

Hello forum members,

I thought I would post a pic of the garter that was rescued from my boss' cellar. He/she is very amusing and always hungry. It took him awhile to get the idea with the pieces of fish I finally got him to eat. He was trapped in the cellar since at least October as best we can tell. He could barely move when I got him and he was extremely thin. Now he is an eating machine eating everything from salmon to pinkies coming up and taking them off the tongs. I am fight the urge to keep it!
Here are some updated pics. The pics aren't that great and it does not capture how bad he looked but now he's healthy and very active.

Hmmm, that "he" might be a "she" that just developed her spring ovulation appetite and if you hang on to her for a couple more months and feed well you might have some little christmas presents underneath her some day. You did a nice job of providing for it's needs obviously, evidence by it has adapted to captivity and is eating from tongs, so at this point you might consider not wanting to "fight the urge to keep it" and "come over to the dark side", evil laugh
