3 Adult Sulfur Lavenders

Nokturnel Tom Mar 03, 2009 05:09 PM

This is the first time I really checked them out since December. A little thin but all look ready to rock and eat dozens of rodents.
This is a male from Rainer. A gust of wind blew the substrate everywhere and he got all pissed off ruining my shots...

Here's a 50% Sulfur Lavender het BHB Snow also from Rainer. This is a very nice one but notice the thinner chain pattern and more so Lavender as opposed to Sulfur Yellow these can be.

Here's a female I scored from Brandon. She looks exactly the same as the day I unplugged the heat 3 months or so ago.

Once these fatten up I will be taking them back outside for better pics. Today was just too windy....

...of how selective breeding can greatly improve the look of a morph. It's a concept that tends to get overlooked in favor of creating multi-morphs.

Some of the ugliest Florida kings I've ever seen were labeled as brooks and were double het for snow, or het whitesided. These really gave the impression that the original breeders just bred their snakes to as many cheaply acquired dark Florida kings as possible rather than breeding into quality stock. Which is great for making a lot of hets, but doesn't make for the prettiest animals.
