Hypo Brooksi, The different lines and some observations.

Keith Hillson Sep 11, 2003 10:52 AM

Im aware of 4-6 lines of Hypo Brooksi

1. Vince Scheidt (male was a dud never produced)
2. Bill Love
3. Doug Beard
4. Len Krysko
5. Tim Little (via Mark Bell)

Most of the above lines look alike some are redder others or more aberrant etc... What puzzles me is Beards line is unlike all the others. Some of his animals have zero black right out of the egg and his animals are alo seeimingly the most aberrant. Is there something going on there like a possible double mutation ? Maybe a Hybino ??? Who has crossed Beards animals to other strains ? What was the result ? Seems like Krysko and Little's animals have the most red appearance and keep more of it than the the others into adulthood. Loves seesm like the least aberrant of them all and his animals are traceable to wild Homestead animals collected by him and Rob M. of Glades Herp. Little's line came from some Brooksi he got from Mark Bell that popped out Hypo's. My adult normal(het for Hypo) male came from Mark's "Old Man" Brooksi that is from what Ive heard on of the best nortmals ever seen . So that makes a connection to mine and Tim's Hypos. I never knew my animals were Het. until they popped out a single Hypo last year. I know some of the history to the others but maybe someone can layout the history to Beards and Krysko's animals as Ive heard a couple of different stories. Im going to post an example of each line and please its not a definitive example so if you have a pic of a particular line post them under the post Ive made for each.

Regards,

Keith

Like I said this male never produced so this line is as far as I know a dead end line. Any further info would be appreciated.

Keith-
remember the pic of the red hatchling I sent to you? That was from a Love male bred to a Beard female. The Beard female (from Howie Sherman) was a nice yellow/white feeding frenzy freak but with no aberrant pattern. Both of the Love males I have owned had a fair amount of orange color into adulthood, and a fair amount of striping. In '05 ( the difficulties of being a 3rd year breeder LOL)I will be able to do a father/daughter and sibling/sibling pairings to see how far the orange coloration and aberrant patterns will advance.

That NJ eastern is chowing unscented pinkies now and is buffing up nicely. He has developed the amusing habit of "rattling" his tail at me. It's all bluff, but I find it very endearing. I'll try to get a new photo to post this weekend. See ya.
