Repti-Shield update again

markg Mar 06, 2009 02:00 PM

I had a test piece of plywood coated with Repti-Shield in which I used no catalyst. (repti-Shield is a moisture-cure coating.) Finally after 3 weeks and being left out in 2 days of rain, it cured completely. Odorless and like a thin layer of plastic was melted onto the wood.

I beat on it with a rock, and did the same on a piece of decent melamine. The melamine, while pretty tough, did break through (the coating). The Repti-Shield coating had nicks, cuts and was dented (the wood dented) but did not peel off. And another dab of the product seals it back up.

Meant to add, with the catalyst it cures in 24 hrs roughly, so use the catalyst.
