Rack Info

Can some of you guys give me some pros and cons for the hatchling racks you have? I'm torn between a 30 tub rack from the boaphile, and a 40 tub tabletop rack from vision but I'm open to others if they suit me well. I'm probably only going to have one litter per year (hopefully) for the next few years so these racks will work best for me. Anyway, let me know what you guys think works best for you and why. Thanks in advance.

I have three of the boaphile 30 slot Rhinoraxx. Been working great for me, no problems!!! Stack together very well and I run three seperate t-stat channels so I can keep very tight control on them.

I like the clear tubs since you can look in, plus the knobs are nice for pulling them out. Every once in a while, one will hang up on the back edge of the slot for the heat tape when closing the tub but not bad and always a little jiggle gets it past the hangup.

I'll start by saying that I use Jeff's adult cages exclusively and couldn't be happier with them. For babies and juvies, I use Visions primarily because I like the flexibility of using different size boxes as the little ones grow without having to buy more racks. Since they use heat cables that lay in grooves, I can configure the cable to provide as much or as little heated area per box as I choose. I also like the fact that I can see in the boxes without having to pull them out.

The baby rack holds 88 boxes. The next size up holds either 20 - 15 qt. or 10 - 32 qt, sterlites. The next size up holds either 22 - V35 or 11 - V70 (same size as CB70, and half the CB70 size for the V35) boxes. Of course you can mix them, some of each size as they are the same height. I'll post a pic below to make it a little more clear.

I have just purchased some 32 qt. sterlite Boaphile pedestals that fit under my adult cages, too. I haven't finished setting up my new room (I'm working on it Jeff!), and the old room is too cramped to get into with a camera and get any decent shots. Once I do, I'll try to get some decent pics of the new setup.

Either way you go, they both make excellent products. You really can't go wrong. It just comes down to which works best for how you do things.

Best of luck,

Mark

Felxibility also played a significant role in why I chose Boaphile adult cages, too. Jeff makes them pretty configurable. While 4 footers is good for some of my animals, some require 8 footers. With the open end and mulitple heat options, I can change them back and forth between 4 and 8 feet as I need to.
