Is this female a hypo?

whitneywee Mar 09, 2009 07:44 PM

Last year I bought an adult female as an "unproven hypo". I don't know her exact lineage. I bred her to this hypo male, but she did not take, so I failed to prove her out. They're trying again this year. Here she is with the male - do you think she's hypo or just a very light orange normnal?

IMO is hard to say, the outlines are darker than typical but then again are much lighter than normal as well. All you can do is breed her and see what comes out. I suspect she is a hypo just can't say for sure.

Hmmm... It's hard to say, but I am thinking she may be more along the lines of a Yellow than a Hypo. Only breeding trials will tell for sure, though. Good luck this year!

Dave... you had Ol' Yeller for a while... how does she compare to him?

That is a very different looking snake. It is sort of like some of the yellow BRBs but still different from them. It seems to lack much red and dark pigment in the ground color but seems to only lack a little dark pigment in the markings. I think it is some sort of morph though different than any of the known morphs.
