Wine cooler incubator

stevebp Mar 09, 2009 11:28 PM

What do you guys/gals think about this incubator that i created. I used 100 watt heat cable, a herpstat nd and a computer fan(im still trying to figure out where to put it)? Any suggestions?

I would have a hard time figuring out where to put a fan too! You really don't need that heat cable all over! If you just coil a small amount at the bottom you'll be just fine, it will give you room for a fan too. Those coolers are well insulated so a small heat source at the bottom is just fine. After that heat source is on for a hour or so that cooler will even out in temp, your fan will circulate the heated air and your hepstat will keep the temp dialed in. I would get a smaller heat source, you don't need that much cable.

Hope that helps

How long do you recommend? What size watt to use?

Heres a similar pic of the one I made.

I have NOT had any eggs to incubate yet and have not added a fan yet so I cant say how well it works however the test run I did held temps really well and my cable is 50W - 23 ft. Mine had a wire rack that I was thinking of using to hold the egg container and put the fan on the bottom
