Thinking of a new design for my boas..

_dennis_ Mar 10, 2009 10:20 AM

I am on the way on making new caging for all of my Central american boa constrictors.

I was thinking of using Bob Applegate cage design, the cage it self will be 48"x24"x20" and built into/under the cage it will be two tubs (24"x16"x7,2" One will be used as a "humid box" and the other as hide"

There will also be a shelf in the corner in a triangle shape and the heat will either come from a heat panel or a heat cable wich will be placed on the shelf.

What do you think about that? I know they´ll settle with plain 48"x24"12" cage, but I´ll like to experement with my caging.

Thanks,
Dennis

One recommendation on the "humid" box. Line the bottom side of the shelf with formica to prevent swelling from the added moisture. (may need to do the same to the "dry" hide side to keep heights the same) Also, since they can get traction from the pass through, a tub latch is a must

I have found with my BRB's, they will use whatever you give them.

Yes, I´ve thought about that.

But you think this will be a good set up for BRB´s too?

I think 36"x24"x18" will be the size I use for the males and the above mentioned will be for adult female CA. boas and BRB´s.

If any has some similar set up, please post pics!
