Vision hatchling rack - owners?

tcdrover Mar 11, 2009 10:37 AM

Anyone have a Vision hatchling rack?

I've been looking at them & I'm curious about something. It looks like you can switch to use bigger tubs on the existing structure if you use the same tub size across one row. Is this the case?

Anyone doing this right now?

Yes. You can use the 15qt, 2 per shelf, or the 32qt, 1 per shelf. I have one rach right now that is mix and match sizes. You just use the heat cable and can arrange it any way you want for each shelf.
Hope this helps.

That may be my deciding factor.

I have used different tubs in the same rack before. It is a nightmare configuring the heat cable so that the hot spot in the shoe boxes is the same as in the sweater or CB70 size tub while not running out of cable or having tons of excess. If your snake room doesn't circulate a lot of air, then you might find that with the same amount of cable per level, the bottom tubs dont get nearly as warm as the top ones. You might have to gradually run extra wire per level as you move down. It takes forever to get it just right but if you do I guess it works better than other racks that cannot be customized.

I haven't found (or looked really) for a larger tub to fit the baby rack, but as someone else mentioned, the 15 qt. and 32 qt. sterlites are the same height and can fit. Also, I think the V70 (same size as CB70)and V35 will do the same.

The V35, CB70, and CB80 are all compatible with the hatchling rack

Thanks for the info, I didn't know. How do you get the right height for the V/CB70, V35 and V80? Do you just change out the "spacers" to fit the other sized boxes?

Thanks again,

Mark

Yep. You just need the right lengths of pvc that sleeve over the poles to separate the levels. Vision will normally throw in extra, cut to size pieces for cheap.
