Watermelon

dagangsta Sep 11, 2003 03:00 PM

hey, a coupla days ago, i had put some watermelon in my tank for the crickets to eat, b/c i read that otherwis ethey will nip my geckos, a coupla minutes later, my leo got up and went over to the watermelon and started licking away at it, it was very interesting, anyways, my mom was at petco getting me a new heat lamp and everything and she told an employee there about the watermelon, and she told my mom that its not ok for geckos to eat or lick at any fruits, b/c it could mess with there crap, is this true, and if so what should i put in for the crickets to eat on? thanks a lot

Just make sure they can't swallow any seeds

it will actually benefit any lizard to eat fruits or veggies. it's just that most wont, and obviously should not replace their normal diet.

it might give em the hersheys. all the natural sugars and all the water, watermelon contains seems to make things (including us) poop. so while i dont think nutritionally it will hurt them you might see a few lose stools while he is eating/licking the watermelon
