Whats the best food for breeder rats? I feed mine a mix of dog/cat food, pasta, rice, bread, chicken, fresh fruits and veggies.

A lot of people are going to say you should only give your rats rodent chow. I have been breeding rats for about 3 years now and have found a variety of foods work. I personaly have used dog food, cat food, hog chow, rodent chow and other grains and vegtables. I feel you should feed WHATEVER WORKS FOR YOU! I am currently using Hi fat lab pellets by western milling company and it works good for me, but i have seen little or no difference when I am feeding dog or hog food. I buy my lab pellets in bulk, which saves me money so its a no brainer for me. Before I could get the lab pellets at a decent cost, it was plain old dog food! Hope this helps

I use an 18 /6...6 % fat

the company makes a 13 /11...but the store didn't sell enough...

the 18 /6 is an alla round maintenance diet for feeders, breeders and all...

......higher fat is good for the mothers......

.....good stuff.......
