How to sex v. doreanus?

jasper2 Mar 13, 2009 02:33 PM

Hi,

I would like to know if adult doreanus are easy to sex.
Do males have big hemipenile buldges? Do they have bigger heads?
Something else?
I recently bought a "pair", but don't see much difference in their tailbase, I think they are both females.
Any pics of the tailbase of a male would help a lot.

Thanks, Jasper

Sounds like you have a system but the key is to know which you are looking at- which isn't always so easy... Do you have any pics of the animals you are trying to sex? Best to you - Mike

I would think if you got a few pictures of the animals then people will respond more given they have more to work with.Try taking clear pictures of the tailbase, head, body, full length shots, and shots of them next to each other.Focus on side and top views of the body parts. You can compare a lot once you have two different animals to look at.Try paying attention to lengthy bodies, bigger builds, larger head, distance between the eye and the nostral, curvature in the jaw.Staring at a vent all day wont do anything.Very common in the indicus group the males will be a whole lot bigger then the females.Pictures will get some of your questions answered.
